What is a Current Transformer (CT)?
A CT is a device that measures the flow of electricity through a wire in an AC circuit (Alternating Current) by simply by being clipped around the cable. No need to cut or disconnect anything!
Every Indra charger comes with a CT included.
The red tie wrap (shown in the picture) is also supplied with the charger. Its purpose is to discourage removal of the CT by third parties, helping keep your system safe and working correctly.
Why do we use a CT?
A CT allows the charger to monitor the electricity flowing into and out of your home. This is essential for smart features like:
📈 Load Curtailment – prevents overloading your main fuse by adjusting charging power.
☀️ Export Matching (Solar Mode) – helps you make the most of your solar energy.
☀️ Export Matching (Solar Mode) – helps you make the most of your solar energy.
Important: If the CT is removed and Load Curtailment is set as required, the charger will automatically reduce charging to 6A for safety. 🔒
CT Placement
The CT should be installed:
- At the main supply to the installation in a position where it can measure all current flowing in and out of the main cut out fuse⚡
- As close to the main cut-out fuse as possible for accurate readings📍
- With the arrows on top of the CT facing the grid (towards the incoming supply)➡️
- Before any junctions in the main tails 🔗
