We can offer recommendations for configurations that may give desirable results, but it’s the installer’s responsibility to confirm if these are suitable for your specific setup.

Solar & Battery Interaction 🔋☀️

Indra chargers cannot differentiate between solar export and battery export. 

This means the charger can and will drain your home storage battery in certain circumstances—often not the desired behaviour.

EV chargers cannot communicate directly with the home storage battery unless they are of the same brand.

Ways to Mitigate This Issue

• Match schedules: Set the battery charging schedule to match the car charging schedule. This way, the battery will be busy charging instead of discharging into the car. 
• Turn off the battery when the car is charging (not very practical). 
• Configuring the installation so the battery does not discharge into the car

Configuring the Installation to Prevent Battery Drain 🔋🚫

These methods can only be used if the charger is supplied from its own consumer unit, fed directly from the main supply tails.

How to Configure:

Move the home storage battery CT to a position where it cannot detect the charger’s load -this prevents the battery from discharging into the EV charger.
